Viola pubescens

Downy Yellow Violet

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Viola pubescens - This sweet native erupts with five-petaled yellow spring flowers - unmistakably of the Violet clan. Each flower exhibits dark purple stripes in its throat. Medium green simple leaves are broadly spade-shaped and scalloped. Round seed pods are silvery green due to the fine hairs reflecting light which cover them. The bees like it and it's edible, too. Native Downy Yellow Violet is found in rich woodlands in dapple part sun / part shade. Established pot grown Violet from seed or division.
