Callicarpa dichotoma var. albafructus 'Duet'

Plant Type:

DECIDUOUS SHRUBS

Callicarpa dichotoma var. albafructus 'Duet' - Variegated leaves consist dark green leaves haloed with broad, creamy white margins. The variegation is stable and consistent. It is exceptionally bright and glowing, illuminated, all through the growing season. The eruption of mid to late summer pale lavender axillary flowers then magically metamorphose into pure white fruit clusters in autumn. The 40-inch height x breadth size determination is in about 4 years. If left alone it will grow taller but an annual pruning will engender a dense growing rounded shrub that will be not only shorter but fuller. This exceptional rendition of Beautyberry is a U.S. National Arboretum introduction. Site in open shade, dappled light to morning sun planted in fertile, draining soil. Leaves may burn in harsh midday to mid-afternoon sunlight during the intense summer months. Handy and versatile in use 'Duet' is problem free and of easy culture... and those berries! And those leaves!! Established shrub, cutting grown.
