Crinum Lily

Plant Type:

BULBS

Crinum x 'Super Ellen' – A monster super hero among Crinum... The narrow glossy leaf blades jut up from the base and may stretch to a potential astonishing height of 7 feet! Rich pink trumpets on strong stems begin their splendorous reign in June and continue successively through summer. This amazing Crinum Lily hybrid, C. 'Ellen Bosanquet' x C. bulbispermum, comes from the capable hands of Tom Perry. It may take a few years of settled-in growth before 'Super Ellen' reaches her full super hero potential. And, allegedly, 'Super Ellen' is super in USDA zone 6 culturally possible in colder sites than most of her cousins. Full sun in fertile, draining soil. Keep her drier in winter especially when grown in pot culture... and as the bulb expands keep potting her up unless you enjoy stumbling upon the surprise of exploded clay pots... a powerful super hero, indeed! For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is strongly advised. Pot grown bulb.
