Clethra alnifolia 'Creel's Calico Select'

Sweet Pepperbush

Plant Type:

DECIDUOUS SHRUBS

Clethra alnifolia ‘Creel’s Calico Select’ – Through the years we have selected only the most variegated cuttings from our plants. In doing so this cultivar of Sweet Pepperbush is very variegated – lots of white stippling; and these shrubs demonstrate greater genetic stability with less of a tendency towards completely green stem reversions. Typical, fragrant white-spiked terminal flowers arise in mid-summer. Foliage usually picks up good yellow autumn tones. Older wood exfoliates. Seed pods remain atop stems for added moderate winter interest. Site ‘Creel’s Calico Select’ in mostly sunny to partly shaded exposure planted in moisture-retentive fertile soil. Established potted Sweet Pepperbush, cutting grown.
