Clerodendrum trichotomum 'Carnival'

Harlequin Glory Bower

Plant Type:

DECIDUOUS SHRUBS

Clerodendrum trichotomum 'Carnival' - This is a fantastic variegated form of the Harlequin Glory Bower with each leaf broadly margined in creamy yellow. White to pink-infused white jasmine-scented starry flowers set in red tepals open on open terminal panicles in late summer. Late summer into fall glossy round porcelain to dark blue berries - one per each set of starry, rich deep violet tepals - like glowing jewels are sumptuous, striking and beautiful. This will be a die-back shrub but in the mildest of winters in the northern end of its range. For gardeners at the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Site in full to nearly full sun planted any decent loam that drains. Cutting grown from either stem or root cuttings.

In regards to autumn planting: Generally we caution that plants near and at the northern end of their climate range are best considered for spring planting so they have a chance to settle in and grab hold to their new environs. If you purchase a tricky plant now and it perishes in the winter please understand that we will not take responsibility. If you are uncertain be prudent, wait until spring.
