Chrysopsis (syn. Hetherotheca) mariana - Sunny yellow single daisy-like flowers do look like an aster flowers in middle-late season into autumn in northeastern Connecticut. Hairy medium green lanceolate leaves on hirsute stems are topped with lots of flowers. Probably best in the casual, wilder garden. Maryland Goldaster according to indigenous maps curiously leaps over skipping Connecticut from Rhode Island (where it is threatened) to New York states. Hmmm, well - at least you'll find it in the gardens at Quackin' Grass. This is strictly a clumping perennial. This particular selection may have southern provenance and might be better in zone 6b southward. Full to mostly sunny sites planted in draining soils with sand added. Late summer bloom here. Division.
