Ceanothus x pallidus 'Marie Simon'
New Jersey Tea
Plant Type:
DECIDUOUS SHRUBSCeanothus x pallidus 'Marie Simon' – 'Marie Simon' is a C. x delilianus and C. ovatus cross with lovely pink ocean spray flowers in late spring with modest recurrent bloom through the summer into the fall. Pleasantly fragrant flowers are approximately 3 inches in diameter. Red stems are showy in winter. This New Jersey Tea, actually an east-west coast hybrid, is rounded and mounding. And 'Marie Simon' is semi-evergreen – we suspect more so in the more southerly growing regions. Adaptable to soil type and sun / shade mix Ceanothus x pallidus 'Marie Simon' is a work horse among shrubs that will simultaneously delight and stump your gardening friends. Not very well known but really is lovely. Full to part sun in fertile to dryish soils. For gardeners at the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Established potted shrub, cutting grown.
