Rubus pentalobus 'Sonya's Parasol'

Taiwan Creeping Blackberry

Plant Type:

BROADLEAF EVERGREEN SHRUBS

Rubus pentalobus (syn. calycinoides) 'Sonya's Parasol' - Creamy white splotches and streaks occur on all green leaves with no two exactly alike. All coarse leaves are shallowly and gently lobed and densely set along hairy, overlapping stems forming a solid ground cover. New stems display a pinkish tint. White flowers form upright light orange raspberry fruits that are delicately sweet. Autumn brings burgundy to bronze coloring and in more mild climates remains evergreen; the white variegations may turn more pink to red. Though 'Sonya's Parasol' will tolerate shade best performance and color will be achieved in lots of sun. Plant this beautiful variegated form of Taiwan Creeping Raspberry in average to fertile draining soil. Its terrific on a slope or down facing shrubs. How about allowing spring flowering minor bulbs to erupt above the beautiful leaves? Some reversions are possible... keep your pruning shears handy. Cutting grown.
